Game Releases “Shake”, Continues Streak of Wackness (Listen & Download)

Ok, so Game's new single "Shake", produced by Cool & Dre, isn't nearly as bad as the audio abomination that was "Pussy Fight" (which, if it weren't for "Tipsy Texting" would be the worst song of the year), but I also think it's safe to say that it's not blowing anyone away either. This means that everything we've heard off Game's upcoming "The Red Album" is mediocre at best, which raised an important question: what happened to the man? I know he inspired a lot of intense love/hate, but no matter your personal opinion, there's no way 2005 or 2007 Game would have released any of this music. He's in a slump, a slump it's not clear he'll ever emerge from.

I spend some time researching a parallel for Game's situation and I finally got it; Terrell Davis! First, Terrell is Game's middle name, so there's an immediate connection. Second, in 1998 Terrell Davis ran for over 2,000 yards, won the NFL MVP and a Super Bowl. The next season, seemingly overnight, he was done. Plagued by injuries he would only play a handful of uninspired games in the next four seasons before retiring, prompting every NFL fan to marvel at the astounding speed at which he fell from elite status - just like Game is now. And yes, this is what I spend my time thinking about.

(UPDATE: Apparently this won't end up being on "The Red Album". Still...)
