Regular readers know I have what could be called an incredibly biased view of The-Dream's work. After all, his
classic "Love vs. Money" album is one of the primary reasons why I have a child (we'll leave it at that). I'll admit that makes me an unreliable judge of Dream's new music hell, I even really liked "
Make-Up Bag", so when I say that his new track "
Champagne" is mediocre at best, it's kind of a big deal. On the production side the beat just kind of sits there and his vocals are just ok. Even the "A!"s sound forced. And I haven't even mentioned the terrible verse from
Diddy yet, who dips into his "
It's All About the Benjamins" verse. Nobody's perfect, but let's hope this is the only miss on Dream's upcoming "Love King" album.
And now for another edition of "conversations I imagine happened":
Diddy: "Hey, quick idea. How about we rename the track Ciroc?"
Dream: "No."
Diddy: "Ok, how bout this? We name the track Ciroc, and I give you any Bad Boy artist to work as your butler for a year."
Dream: "No."
Diddy: "Fine."
