Over the last few months
DJBooth (a.k.a. the mothership) has hosted two projects, Big K.R.I.T.'s "
K.R.I.T. Wuz Here" and Yelawolf's "
Trunk Muzik" that have helped catapult both rappers into the national spotlight (and major label deals). In all honesty, I think DMV rhymespitter
Phil Ade and his upcoming project "The Letterman" might be the next to join them. As we've
already heard, Ade can craft punchline driven hits, and on his new track "
My Story" he proves that he's got some serious storytelling chops as well.
Appropriately, "My Story" gets up caught up on Ade's story as he reveals such nuggets as his former group's name (Boulevard Bros), his connection to Raheem DeVaughn and, of course, his weaknesses (girls) . Every new rapper should be legally mandated to do a track like this explaining their roots - although most rappers can't do a track like this.
