For Orie, Life is a “Battlefield” (Listen & Download)

I know everyone and their great aunt is posting the new version of Kanye's "See Me Now", but frankly I just need to get off Planet Yeezy for a minute, and ThroatChop's got me inspired to look beyond the usual with the latest "Return of the Real". So now here we are, with My City vet and rapper/producer/up-and-comer Orie and his new single "Battlefield".

Percussively driven, electronically soaked and head-noddingly minimalistic (yes, I'm aware that "headnoddingly" isn't a word), "Battlefield" is produced by the headliner himself and Steve Anderson, with St. Louis crooner Derrick Christian laying down some smooth vocals over the top to nice effect. Plus I like nice whips, girls and cash as much as the next man, but the last few days all the materialistic d-baggery surrounding me on the daily in L.A. has been driving me Planters, so the lyrical message of "Battlefield" really hit home: “Success is what you make it, but money can’t define it.” Amen.

"Battlefiled" is the first release off Orie's upcoming album, "Twenty-20", scheduled to drop sometime next year via D.E.M.O. and the mothership. Keep it locked for more details.
