Anyone who's been following
Mike Posner's career for a minute should have seen his new track "
Please Don't Go" coming. After his quasi-hip-hop mixtape "One Foot Out the Door" began to catch some serious buzz, the Duke grad's embarked on a calculated endeavor to move more towards the pop end of the spectrum, taking vocal lessons to shore up his singing voice and so far he's succeeded. His
smash single "
Cooler Than Me" may have a Big Sean verse, but let's not kid ourselves, it's a pop song, and "Please Don't Go" is his most bubblicious work yet.
I really can't blame the man. Anyone who takes more than even a five-second look at the workings of the music industry knows that locking up the female demographic is the key to large-scale success. That doesn't mean I have to like the music. Or maybe I'm just still jealous he
landed Rosa Acosta for a video (true) and hate Duke (also true). So how about it RefinedHype? Am I hating, or is it time to jettison Posner from hip-hop nation?
Either way his debut album "31 Minutes to Takeoff" is set to drop in August.
