Women, cars, booze, cash and women, all time tested subjects for rap videos, and the
Kidz in the Hall proudly become part of that long tradition on their new video "
Jukebox", a flick that envisions a world in which every sidewalk and bar is filled entirely with hot women. In other words, heaven. Keep it locked for more off their "Land of Make Believe" album, dropping next month.
The Refined Take:
1) I'm no marketing expert, but I'm pretty sure randomly throwing flyers for your show on the ground isn't the most effective means of promotion. Unless maybe your target demographic is homeless folks.
2) I need to move to this mythical city where the population is 98% female, and 100% of those women are hot. I live in L.A., aside from Miami the city with the highest hot chick to guys ratio in the country, and believe me, it's nothing like this. Is this what heaven looks like?
3) "Baby you drivin / cause I'm drivin / and if not I can give you a ride then." I hate to be a literalist, but this may not be the best pick up line while you're walking next to a girl with no car in sight.
4) If this was real life a girl would put a quarter in the jukebox and then proceed to drunkenly sing her heart out to Bon Jovi's "Livin on a Prayer" while the rest of the bar either joins in or laughs at her. At least that's how it goes down round these parts.
5) in a lot of ways this is an underground version of Wale's "
Pretty Girls" video, although I don't think it will prompt the same dark-skinned girl controversy. This feels much more like equal opportunity.
