J-Scrilla don't need no love from you, and neither does the entire DMV. A little while ago Scrilla's banging DMV posse cut "No Love" dropped ft. K-Beta, XO, Oddisee, RAtheMC, Wordsmith, Judah, and TEFLON (yeah, that's a lot of spit on one track), and now the crew's back with a video shot entirely in the D.C. area.
The Refined Take:
1) I'm not familiar, but I'm told that D.C. residents will recognize the graffiti from the Rhode Island Metro (graff done by DC's own DOT COM Crew). There's nothing better than seeing your area represented on film, hope you're loving this one all my DMV peoples.
2) In the intro K-Beta says "You call this a battle? I'm a left tackle." That's not a boast, that's the truth. Damn Beta's a big man - there's not a doubt in my mind that he really did play left tackle.
3) Will all this "the femcee is dead" talk it's good to see RAtheMC drop a verse. She's a very talented young rapper who's not selling her sexuality, only her (substantial) rhyme skills.
4) It looks like Oddisee spits his verse while some police lights flash in the background. I wonder if they set that up or they were filming, some cops pulled up and they were like "f**k it, this looks dope, let's keep shooting." I could really see it going either way.
5) A year ago the entire DMV area was barely on the map, now it feels like I can't turn open my inbox without seeing or hearing someone rep for D.C./Maryland/Virginia. I'm just saying, from where I sit there's a chance, a very good chance, that the DMV could be slowly but surely taking over the game. There, consider yourself warned.
