Drake & The-Dream “Shut It Down” (Listen & Download)

Sorry for the delay on this, but when the first leaked version of Drake's new track"Shut It Down" was starting to make the rounds I was in Vegas feeding a lion, drinking heavily and getting crushed at the blackjack tables (not necessarily in that order). The wait was probably for the best because over the weekend the tagged, crappy quality version that first leaked has been touched up substantially; hence the near-official quality of the version proudly presented to you now.

Oh yeah, the song. Unlike "Over", which was really made to get the hip-hop heads talking (mission accomplished), "Shut It Down" is Drake's first attempt at a radio smash (a.k.a. making young women hyperventilate), a radio smash that somewhat surprisingly comes in the form of a r&b slow jam. And if you're going to slow jam, you might as well bring on The-Dream, who predictably kills his section. Well done gentlemen.

p.s. - Wow, Drizzy dropping multiple f-bombs. That's a dollar into the swear jar Aubrey Drake Graham.

Almost Forgotten	Good, I'm not the only one that thinks Drake sayin "Put those fuckin heels on" and "Put that fuckin dress on" sounded kinda forced.. Like someone told him to bring up the cussin a little lol

Young Swish	I like it when drake raps because I think that’s when he is at his best. I think all the “fucking” brings the tone of the song down and was not needed.

Dj Freestyle

Ya i wish instead of a completely hip hop song and a completely r&b song why not mix them together because honestly i believe hes a better rapper and hes better on a faster track and although this may get radio spins it could honestly be better. and if he wants to do a r&b track why have him sing the hook when you have The dream on the track. and how is an album going to flow if you from tracks like this to tracks like over he needs balance. this isnt hate i love drake when hes not trying to be something hes not and i believe hes a rapper that can sing and therfore he should rap more than sing. and when he is rapping he doesnt need to be doing it with young money.

Nathan S.	Ha, I guess it's not a good sign that the most memorable part of this song is all the f-bombs. I thought it was just me. And in response to @Dj Freestyle, Drake's got so many people trying to shape his career and advising him it's almost impossible to figure out what his sound "really" is. Obviously some A&R decided they needed a r&b baby maker on the album.

enigmAtic And ecstAtic (joshL)	i had really really high expectattions for this...i was def let down. not impressed one bit. not even on Dreams part. this is really supposed to smash at radio???? how? i cant remember the last time i heard a song this slow make ANY impact on the radio. its still a decent song, but i bet u guys this dont go big on the radio.
