I know in the ridiculously fast-paced world of hip-hop media this track is already "old" - you know, considering it came out less than a week ago - but I was traveling on Friday and there's no way I'm letting a track from
Cee-Lo titled "
Fuck You" go by without a post. (For the record, while I sometimes self-censor swears around these parts, the official title of the track is "Fuck You", so if anyone's got a problem with this post being filled with fuckery, fuck you).
I've complained at length about Cee-Lo's ongoing refusal to rap, most recently on his last track "
Georgia", so I won't rehash it here, other than to say that the man frustratingly continues to boycott tap. That small complaint aside, this is not only the best break-up anthem in recent memory, but its breezy, retro-r&b sound - crafted by the Bruno Mars' lead production crew
The Smeezingtons - makes for one of the more purely enjoyable songs I've heard in a minute.
"Fuck You" is off Lo's upcoming, still untitled upcoming album "Lady Killer". And for those interested, 50 tacked on a verse for the "remix", which if you feel like punishing your eardrums, you can listen to
here.
