Welcome to the first annual RefinedHype Awards! We’re like the Source Awards, except with less stabbings. Around here we do things a little different, so in addition to some unique categories the winners will be determined entirely by the citizens of RefinedHype Nation. The winners will be announced on December 13. Until then, get to voting…..

Actual album sales might be lower than a stripper’s self-esteem, but 2010 was packed with more high profile albums than any year in recent memory.

imo, the worst rapper was by far the most difficult decision. |

no doubt worst rapper of the year was a hard one, too bad gucci mane didnt make it onto the list... but the hardest gotta be booty of the year, larissa won my vote coz of her world cup stint!! |

I don't see how yeezy is winning. But solid lists nonetheless. |

Not sure how Ye can be voted as the best rapper. Producer? Sure. Overall music maker? Quite possibly. But rapper? No. |

Does Lupe really deserve to be winning here? As it says at the bottom "Remember, consider only their work this year, not previous years or over the course of a career." In 2010 Lupe has released a remix for I'm Beamin', I'm Beamin' itself, Shining Down, SLR and a few lose tracks via live performances. I love the man's work (see: avatar), but by the guidelines set, he doesn't deserve a vote, or at least mine. Jay-Z falls into the same category. The last three artists, however, are all definitely worthy of votes. Kanye has definitely stepped up his lyrical game and has proven time and time again that he can spit with the best this year. From the G.O.O.D. Friday tracks (which were star-studded as anything), where nine out of ten times Kanye came out on top, to his own work on his album ("Gorgeous", "Dark Fantasy", etc)- he deserves the credit. "The Joy," the "Power (Remix)"- don't deny it, you know you yourselves must've been saying "damn, Yeezy snapped." And then there's Em. His album was definitely not his best work. But his guest verses and other contributions? He's very consistent. As is J. Cole. |

Glad to see RefinedHype Nation is as down for the first annual awards as I am. @discostu I don't know if there was a more influential rapper than Kanye this year in terms of people hanging on his every word. Does that also make him the best? I don't think so, but he deserved to be included. |

lupe fiasco's catalog this year: i'm beaming + remix, go to sleep, slr, the show goes on, never forget you, we can do it now, features on just the way you are remix, shades and bad don't seem so wrong and 2 good friday collaborations. shining down was actaully 2009, but imo all of these songs are straight fire and justify a vote for lupe. but one fundamental principle of votings are different opinions, without the latter voting would be senseless |

When was Wale's More About Nothing? That was this year right... how does that not get a nod? |

I think No ceilings should've been up there and more about nothing also. Good to see Lupe win but out of the other rappers in the category i think he did the least this year. |

@ enigmAtic And ecstAtic- I thought The Game was hopeless, but his verse on Purp and Yellow was nice. Check out the remix with Wiz K. @ Whoever nominated No Ceilings, I don't value your opinion enough to scroll up, that was released last Halloween. |

Worst rapper was hardest choice I think. I voted for Rosa Acosta in the booty vote..I mean. Damn..Just look at the photos. I'd give a finger to get in that. (Not my thumbs, those are for XBox) |

These awards for the most part, made my smile cuz it proves there is people who still know real hip hop ! (in high school its not as much whats good, more like whats popular, eff that) Butt i did disagree on two things, mixtape of the year in my opinion was deff KRIT Was Here, Friday Night Lights is good, but honestly, i think The Warm Up is better than it. Maybe its cuz i respect krits production, cuz its nice-or because that mixtape was one of the things i modeled myself after when first producing, but i feel there is more soul poured into KRIT Wuz Here, and you can hear that throughout. Secondly, why is erryone jocking lupe so hard? Cuz like i love lupe, i think hes extremely talented, maybe even most talented on that list-but based on this year, its drfinatly either kanye or J. Cole,; based on them doing soo much more work(lets not forget that Blow Up mixtape with some 20 new freestyles, even though a couple were on Cole World), and i dont need to say how busy Yes been, we all know haha. Even though his best new song in my opinion isnt a good friday(All of the lights, but thats irrelavant) All in all, im happy with it, even though im not sure why teflon don was even in the runnings:D MOTM 2 ! Sike im a huge cudi fan, but i was disappointed, Enough late night rambling, im out ! |

Unfortunately it's just not possible to create a list with five slots that includes everyone who deserved to be nominated. So instead you get to tell me what a moron I am for leaving out your favorite artist/mixtape etc.! Keep it coming people. |

I was thinking of No ceilings when i was trying to put I'm Not a Human Being, but No Ceilings was better anyway. But all the list were great, everyone won't be happy nonetheless. |

@discostu: are people still doubting Kanye West can rap in 2010?! For real? It takes a lot of bias to overlook all his growth since he started, but I doubt you'll still have that opinion if you do yourself a favor and listen to this compilation of almost all his guest verses: https://kevinnottingham.com/2009/04/23/kanye-west-guest-verses-vol-5/. During those 5 volumes, he outshines rappers I am sure you consider "real rappers". He was amazing back in 2004 ("Selfish", "This way"), and you doubt him in 2010? |
