The abstract one is back with the new video for his single "Life is Better" featuring Norah Jones, off his dope "The Renaissance" album. In typical Tip fashion, "Life is Better" is definitely the work of a man who follows his own vision, even if it takes him into left field.
RefinedHype.com not-so-proudly presents, in association with Joey Lawrence and denim jackets, the worst rap ever recorded. Ever. In history. Unearthed from a place no man should have to visit, former teen heartthrob Joey Lawrence lays down a verse so bad it will make you miss Vanilla Ice.
Recently there's been a lot of media hype surrounding the so-called "R.I.P. to All Female Emcees" phenomenon, but whoever thinks female rappers aren't still tearing up mics clearly isn't looking. In this video underground queen Eternia, MC Lyte, Jean Grae and more offer more than a little proof that the female emcee is alive and breathing.
Two videos hit my inbox this morning and they were they couldn't have been more different. "Passing By" from Baltimore indie artist Black Sunn is the definition of low budget, focusing entirely on the music. On the other hand, Gucci Mane's "Wasted" is an alcohol soaked ode to mutli-millionaires featuring more groupies than a "For the Love of Ray-J" casting call. Put them side-by-side and the two videos become a testament to the current state of the hip-hop game.
I get a fair amount of videos thrown my way, and while most of them look like they were produced by a drunken fifth-grader, the video for Lotus and Dunnit's "Fly With Me" honestly blew me away. A mix between Terminator 2 and porn with some insane special effects thrown in, "Fly With Me" is a must watch.
Video of the portly Rick Ross taking a sizable spill at a recent show has been making the rounds this morning, and as much as I'd like to believe I'm above such juvenile humor, I'm not. Not even remotely. I mean, when he's trying to get up, and he can't, and his bodyguards have to help him stand...come on, that ish is hilarious.
Chali 2na, otherwise known as that dude with the crazy deep voice who was in Jurassic 5 and Ozomatli, just dropped the video for his single "International" ft. Beenie Man and the visuals are crazy. Set in the ghettos of Kingston, Jamaica, "International" is not only an great look inside a world most Americans never see, it's got some of the craziest visuals I've seen since Hype Williams started dropping those fish-eyed lens joints back in the day.
Last night on Jimmy Kimmel live, Jimmy challenged T-Pain's claim that his new auto-tune iPhone app could make anyone sound good, including Obama. T-Pain took up the challenge and remixed some of Obama's recent health care reform speeches. I can't front, it does sound kind of fresh. How could auto-tune be dead if even the president's still rocking it?
It's Friday, you ain't got a job, and you ain't got nothin to do. Or if you have a job, you're already counting the minutes until the weekend. Either way there may be no better use of your Friday than spending a few minutes watching True 2 Life Music's new video "Who the F**k Is This?" Featuring the infamous Biggie sample of the same name, "Who the F**k Is This?" is one of the most entertaining videos to hit my eyeballs in a while. Check out more to watch and download True 2 Life's "Larger Than Life" mixtape.
It's easy to look back at the music we bumped when we were kids growing up in the '80s (at least that's when I grew up), but although the ridiculous demin jackets and epidemic of mullets may be what history remembers about the decade, it's easy to forget some f-ing dope music also got made, starting with Salt-n-Pepa's "Push It." More than just some nostalgic old-school jam, "Push It" might just be the best party anthem in hip-hop history. And no, I'm not kidding. Remember when...
