For an uninformed teenager in the 2000s, Boston hip-hop didn’t exist. I didn’t know who Edo G and Akrobatik were, and while knew who DJ Premier was, I had a minimal understanding of his legacy.See more...

Lord knows that I'm no stranger to the bliss of ignorant rap. And by "no stranger", I mean I've been known to hold Juicy J marathon listening sessions. But at my core I'm still a lyrical hip-hop head, which is why I can dig MA emcees REKS and Termanology flipping a joint like "Ignorance Is Bliss" into an exercise in intelligent rhyming.

As a general rule I'll press play on anything that involves Freddie Gibbs, and then if Slaughterhouse alum Crooked I and Lawrence, MA representer Termanology are involved too? And Statik Selektah did the beat? And I'm phrasing everything in the form of a question for no apparent reason? Yeah, I'm banging the fuck out of "Make It Out Alive". During the few hours I was at Stankonia a revolving door of dope artists rolled through to record the "Stankonia Sessions" project, and now we finally get the hear the first fruits of those labors in the dope "Heaven's Door". Producers The Royal Flush manage to put together a beat that's simultaneously banging and mellowed out. Listen and download...See more...

Can I have a personal moment? Growing up in Boston as a hip-hop head was hard – the city had some dope emcees, but for the most part we never got respect on a national level. Show Off compatriots (pun intended) Statik Selektah and Termanology have changed all that, and the proof is Term’s new Say It (Remix). Listen and download....See more...

ShowOff Records co-founders Statik Selektah and Termanology have now dropped a collaborative project, "1982", (fantastic year, by the way), and to help celebrate DJBooth has linked up Statik and Term to exclusively stream the full album. In addition treating your eardrums to some legitimate freshness, we've also teamed up with ProAudioStar.com to offer a few lucky winners some dope DJ equipment. Come on, who loves ya? See more...

With my beloved Celtics getting spanked like a red-headed stepchild last night I could use something to instill a little hometown pride, something like Statik Selektah and Termanology's new track "The Darkest Cloud". Listen and download...See more...

After decades of neglect my native Boston's finally getting some respect on the national stage, and Termanology and Statik Selektah are a big reason why. The duo haven't stooped to fake beefs or marketing gimmicks on their path to the top, just released boatload after boatload of dope hip-hop, hip-hop like Term's new "50 Bodies Pt. 3 Mixtape". Presented alongside DJ Green Lantern, DJ Deadeye and, of course Statik, if you're in the mood for some double-barrel, raw rhymes and beats, look no further. Listen and download...See more...

Every generation has its classics, but for us 80s babies it doesn't get much better than Nas, Biggie, Pac and some old school Tribe Called Quest. Fortunately DJ Dbefekt is dedicated to keeping the classic alive, and he's bringing on two of Boston's brightest emcees Termanology and Reks for his new "Raised on Classics" video, a flick that appropriately pays homage to all the artists who've laid the groundwork for this culture.
