These days everyone thinks the same rappers are underrated, and then talk about it so much they ironically become overrated. Well Skyzoo's my actual pick for one of the most underrated young rappers in the game. The young Brooklyn emcee can go lyrically go hard or punchline, and he uses a little bit of both styles on his new track "Temptress". Listen and download...
Some tracks sound so damn good they need no introduction, but then I'd be out of a job, so here we go. While in Chicago, New York based Skyzoo hit the SoundScape studio and happened to run into Windy City native Rhymefest. The two hit it off and decided to knock out "Crack the Code", a banging ode to their respective cities that uses a Beatnik & K-Salaam beat and will appear on RubyHornet and DJ RTC's "Closed Sessions Vol. 1" mixtape, set to drop on March 2. There's nothing wrong with having a good time, but every so often (hopefully often) you have to set the lighter side of life aside and get down to business, and when you do, "Get Em" should be your soundtrack. Built on some grinding production by Neenah, "Get Em" finds the always quality DJ KO bringing on the unshakable mic skills of Silent Knight, Skyzoo and Emilio Rojas. Sorry kids, you're gonna have to leave the room. The grown-ups are talking. Listen and download...
The latest masterpiece in Court Dunn's ongoing One Shot video series, "Duck Down" takes three of the game's heaviest heavyweight emcees, Skyzoo, Torae and Sean Price (Sean P!) for a banger that's part street anthem, part ode to ill record label Duck Down Records. With three rappers this dope, all you need is one shot. See more...
If you're a fan of real hip-hop and you weren't at L.A.'s House of Blues on Wednesday night, I won't lie, you missed out. Not to rub it in, but yours truly was in attendance for the a show that was about as real as it gets, thanks to blistering sets from up-and-comer Skyzoo and legendary Wu-Tang emcee Raekwon. If there's still anyone claiming that hip-hop is dead, then Wednesday night was a heartbeat so loud you could hear it from blocks away (my ears are still ringing). See more for live video of the event...
As the hype behind his dope "The Salvation" album continues to build, Brooklyn rapper Skyzoo has released the video for his latest single "Popularity", a cinematic masterpiece that's essentially an extended tribute to "Saved By The Bell", except with black people (unlike the original show). No word yet on if his next video will feature a Hawaiian vacation or the college years. See more...
