Take a supremely mellowed out beat by Royal Flush & Marc Real, add in vocals from the fast rising Young Scolla, the always fresh Rapper Big Pooh and the increasingly lyrical Freeway and you've got some good music. No flash, no gimmicks, just good music. And isn't that why we're here? (Ok, besides the booty, isn't that why we're here?)
I don't care if this makes me sounds like a rappity rap rap nerd, that's exactly what I am. If you're not feeling this "They Say (Remix)" you don't actually love hip-hop. God there's so much to like about this track. First, I'm just generally a fan of Little Brother alum Rapper Big Pooh, so it's good to see the man doing some new solo work. Second, the Kendrick Lamar and Ab Soul guest verses are tight and last but not least, there's a very short list or rappers who have the balls to name their record "RapperPooh-a-lude". Although we premiered the record a week ago on DJBooth, it suddenly occurred to me today that I should also post their supremely fresh new mixtape leak "Love Me" for RefinedHype nation as well. On "Love Me" the ATL quartet take turns flowing expertly over Operation A.D.D.'s head-nod inducing beat to fresh effect. Listen and download...
Hall of Justus representer and former Little Brother member Rapper Big Pooh decided to jump on Black Milk's Prince tribute "The Purple Tape" and spit some vocals on top, bringing along Joe Scudda, Chaundon, DJ Flash and more for the ride. In other words, "The Purple Tape" is Pooh going in over Black Milk going in over Prince - I guess you can't have too much of a good thing. Listen and download...
