While MTV's "Rap Fix Live" has served as an outlet for artist's to speak on upcoming projects, critique other artists, and drop some questionable freestyles, the show took a more serious approach during yesterday's episode. During the show Sway spoke with rappers Nas, Bun B, Killer Mike, and Prodigy about the tragic death of Florida teen Trayvon Martin. See more...
Thankfully, nothing's changed on the "Turn Up the Mic (Remix)". It's not every day we get treated to some Nas rhymes over DJ Premier production, so much respect to Bumpy Knuckles for sharing some shine on his cut (and for delivering a solid verse in his own right). See more...
The music video for K'naan and Nas' "Nothing To Lose" remix is basically the same as the original video, but the remix (surprisingly produced by will.i.am) is quite different from the original song. will.i.am has always been a bit too pop for me as a producer, but he definitely killed the production for the "Nothing To Lose" remix.
Songs like "The Don" almost make Nas' random, brief hiatuses from music worth it. It's like he took all that time to just create something extremely dope. And "The Don" is exactly that. It's almost too dope for words. Everything about this song is point. You've got an insane beat courtesy of Salaam Remi, Da Internz, and the late, great Heavy D. Listen and download...
Remember that K'Naan and Nas song "Nothing To Lose?" The one that's pretty dope despite the Disney channel friendly hook? Well, it looks like a music video for the song has been released and thankfully it's more street documentary on A&E than it is Disney channel sitcom. See more...
There was a time - let's say even two years ago - when the mere sight of the words "Wale" and "Nas" next to the word "Tyga" would have made my brain melt in confusion. You mean this guy on a track with this guy and this guy? Listen and download...
Everything's better with The Roots, everything, including a live Nas performance (who can often be disappointing live). God's Son tore through a live rendition of his "Nasty" single on Jimmy Fallon last night, which came complete with Fallon announcing a new album from Nasty Nas will drop this year. See more...
Seems like Somali-Canadian rapper K'naan has been M.I.A. for quite some time, but the rapper is back and he's back in a major way thanks to this new track featuring none other than Nas. I've always really liked K'naan as a rapper, there's something about the way he raps and his flow that makes him unique so I was feeling "Nothing To Lose" within a matter of seconds. With so much negative attention placed on "rapper beef" these days it's always refreshing hearing rappers praise one another's work. So this video of Common reciting his favorite Nas verse, which happens to be "Life's A Bitch" off of "Illmatic," is downright amazing. See more...
