I’m not going to lie to you. Any song feature The-Dream saying “motherf**king” in the first ten seconds is guaranteed a listen from yours truly (I’m a classy dude), and that’s exactly the situation facing us today with Mariah Carey’s “Ribbon (Remix)”, a new take on her “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” slow jam that also brings on Ludacris for a romantic, complete opposite of “Hey Ho” verse. Ultimately though, it’s The-Dream’s always catchy vocals that overshadow both Luda’s rhymes and Mariah’s soprano vocals. Listen and download…
If you like Mariah Carey, Mariah Carey is a nurse outfit, Mariah Carey falling down, Nicki Minaj, Nicki Minaj in a nurse outift, more cleavage than a Hooters convention and the color red, man, you’re going to fu**king going to love this new “Up Out My Face” video. See more…
Now I’m not one of these people who get aggravated every time they hear Nicki, but for my money she ruined Mariah’s “Up Out My Face”, a great guilty pleasure song off Mariah’s last album “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel”. Not only does Nicki’s accent thing get on my nerves this time, but I can’t figure out her rhymes. She seems to be implying her ex was doing coke and having gay sex with a deacon, right? With the number 24 pick of our “Top 25 of the 2000s” countdown, RefinedHype.com and DJBooth.net are proud to select…Mariah Carey’s “We Belong Together”, a track that’s only the biggest single from the biggest female artist of the decade. See more…
When I wrote my review of Mariah Carey’s new album “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” I wrote that The-Dream production was too dark and slow for Mrs. Cannon. Problem solved. The “H.A.T.E.U. Remix” is an up-tempo jam that brings on Big Boi, Gucci Mane and OJ da Juiceman for a lighter version of the previously hate-filled track. See more to download.
As I worked on my review of Mariah Carey’s new album “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” for DJBooth.net, one thing kept coming up again and again. No, not, “Is it just me, or do Mariah’s breasts look particularly large on this album cover?” (Although they do.) No, I kept coming back to her lead single “Obsessed” and thinking, “Could Mariah be one of the first battle rappers/pop singers?” As improbable as it might seem, Mariah Carey, a woman whose symbol is a butterfly and married the world’s least threatening rapper Nick Cannon, might just be one of the only people to ever defeat Eminem in a battle.
