Although I'm blessed enough to be able to work in hip-hop full time now, it took years of working shitty jobs to get to where I am today. Here with a new working man anthem is (relative) newcomer Whitefolkz and his aptly-titled mixtape track "J.O.B." Produced by DJ Soundtrax and also featuring RefinedHype favorite K-Beta. "J.O.B." is a song everyone can relate to. Listen and download...See more...
After weeks of (completely justified) hype DMV heavyweight K-Beta has finally unleashed his full-length project "Inglorious Beta". Presented by Inner Loop Records and DJBooth.net, the 16-track free album is simultanesouly a wake-up call to anyone sleeping on the man's considerable mic skills, and a sweet reward to long time fans for their support. Recent My City participant and die hard DMV representer Muggsy Malone hit me up today and let me know that "Hard Times", the track he did with Lyriciss and K-Beta for "The Practice" mixtape, may have been overlooked when the project dropped. You know what? He's absolutely right. So just in case you hadn't discovered this gem on your own already (well done), I thought I'd take a moment to give Hard Times the shine it deserves. Produced by Lord Vada of Equinox Professionals, this soul meets street joint is a must listen. Listen and download...See more...

As a fairly huge fan of the UK heavyweights, I find the concept of a “hip-hop Radiohead” intriguing, but I'm not sure whether or not it makes sense.... or makes sense (yet). Like so many big questions, it really depends on how you look at things. But, backtracking for a sec, the track that brought this question back to the forefront of my mind was, of course, “Paperbag Writer”, the new, Booth-exclusive freestyle from DMV up-and-comer K-Beta. One of the fresher and stranger entries in recent memory, it came backed by an instrumental derived from Radiohead's (kinda obscure) EP cut of the same name. See more....See more...
