Every so often more notable new videos drop than I can keep up with so I turn to my trusted Video Wrap. Today's edition features new visuals from The-Dream, Dwele and Gucci Mane wearing the most ridiculous pair of sunglasesses you'll ever see. Sounds like fun, huh? Won't you join me?
This morning Gucci Mane was released from Fulton County Prison, and upon his release he proceeded to read a statement that sounded like a third grader reading a book report. This being RefinedHype, I thought we'd take a look at what Gucci's statement would have really sounded like if he got to say exactly what he wanted to. See more...
Senor el Mane de Gucci doesn't get a lot of run on RefinedHype (I've got this weird thing about wanting to listen to rappers who can rap) but when I heard his new cut "Atlanta Zoo", off his upcoming 'Burrrprint 2" mixtape and featuring Ludacris (a.k.a. Mr. #1) I felt like I had to post. Why? I'll tell you why. Listen and download...
Back in Jim Jones' "Ballin" days I couldn't have imagines myself saying this, but over the last couple of years (specifically after his "Harlem's American Gangster" album) I've slowly grown to actually respect Jones as a rapper...I still can't believe I just typed that sentence. He easily gets my vote for most improved rapper, which is why I was legitimately stoked to listen to his new cut "Haunted", an appropriately ethereal produced but by 1.2 that Jones drives home with two legitimately dope verses. Every so often I've got too much good ish in my inbox to post it all, so I just throw them all in the oven and cook up some Hot Links. In today's addition we explore the news that Gucci Mane is headed to jail for up to a year, watch a hilarious video from Amp Live called "Gary is a Robot" and blast the latest dope track from the Strange Fruit Project, "Crash". See more to read, watch, listen and download...
Considering that Gucci Mane's gotten more media attention lately than the swine flu I spend most of today avoiding posting this, but in the end the comic potential was just too high for to to hold off any longer. So without further ado, ladies and gentlemen, I present to you Gucci Mane's official video for "Spotlight" featuring Usher. Enjoy.
It's not that I hate Gucci Mane, it's that I'm confused by him. Or more accurately, I'm confused by why everyone else seems to like him so much. Suddenly the man's guesting on more tracks than Weezy, and not always for the best. So believe me, I feel a little odd saying this, but I'm kind of digging Gucci's new "Spotlight" single. The production's dope, Usher does the damn thing on the hook and, yes, Gucci's flow is pretty damn catchy. See more to download...
Two videos hit my inbox this morning and they were they couldn't have been more different. "Passing By" from Baltimore indie artist Black Sunn is the definition of low budget, focusing entirely on the music. On the other hand, Gucci Mane's "Wasted" is an alcohol soaked ode to mutli-millionaires featuring more groupies than a "For the Love of Ray-J" casting call. Put them side-by-side and the two videos become a testament to the current state of the hip-hop game.
