Fly Gypsy Premiers New “Drop the World (Remix)” (Listen & Download)

RefinedHype favorites Fly Gypsy (a.k.a. emcee Kowboy Kom and producer Alexei) are in the midst of an remixtape project (see their “I Wanna Rock (Brooklyn Remix)”, and if you’re familiar with their always adventurous style, you really shouldn’t be surprised that they decided to touch Lil Wayne and Eminem’s controversially rocking “Drop the World”.  I think we can all agree that you hear my voice way too much in these pages, so I’ll turn things over to Fly Gypsy for the remainder of the world premier of their “Drop the World (Remix).

Fly Gypsy Says Women are More Than “Pretty Girls (Remix)” (Video & Download)

Fly Gypsy are back on their remix game with a well-timed flip of Wale’s (now controversial) hit single on their “Pretty Girls (Remix)”. Like on the original emcee Kowboy Kom had embedded the eminently danceable track with a deeper message, namely that women are women, not just pretty girls. For his part, producer Alexei’s made sure not to overdo it on “Pretty Grils (Remix)”, giving the track some “subtle yet sticky synth lines to give the track more drive.” In other words, there’s no way you’re not dancing to this. Fly Gypsy Opens for Wale in D.C. (Live Video)

Eclectic Jamacia/Russia/DMV/the Globe representers Fly Gypsy recently kicked off 2010 on a live note when they opened for Wale in D.C.‘s 9:30 Club on New Year’s Day. Watching the dynamic duo do their thing live proves three things: live bands are always better than solo DJs, you really need to go see Fly Gypsy the next time they’re in your town, and everyone’s using “Empire State of Mind” as their intro music. Fly Gypsy Want You to “Go”...“Get That Money” (Listen & Download)

Posted by Nathan S. on 12/10/09 | Filed under Downloads, Fly Gypsy

Fly Gypsy

When most hip-hop crews talk about being “versatile” they mean that they can rhyme about their swag over a hard or really-hard beat, but Fly Gypsy is rewriting the definition of true musical versatility. Hailing from everywhere from Russia to Jamaica, Alexei and Kowboy Kom are molding fly Gypsy into one of the most unpredictable groups in the game, and today they enhanced their boundary-breaking reputation with the release of dual-singles “Go”, a hard rock-edged anthem featuring David James, and “Get That Money”, a track that flips Busta’s “Arab Money” into a new school dance floor jam. You’ve never heard anything like this. Listen and download…
