I know Wale and I have had our disagreements in the past but I will give the man this - the man makes some of the better sports references in the game. His MMG sugar daddy Rick Ross? Not so much. And Loso? The man's been known to throw down an ill punchline or two. Well then, this new "Albert Pujols" should be interesting. Listen and download....
I'm not sure what it is that draws rappers to this "Rack City" beat but they absolutely love it. For this latest "Rack City" remix we've got Tyga, Wale, and Fabolous, Oh, and Young Jeezy, T.I., and Meek Mill. It's like that "Deuces" remix all over again. It amazes me that a song with this many rappers on it can still be well under five minutes long. Listen and download...
Today is a glorious day! Or at least it is if you're a rap blogger who's devoted an unhealthy portion of his life to hunting down "Rap Lines That Make No Fucking Sense". (Quick pause - if you have no idea what I'm talking about get caught up here.) Man this has been a long time coming. Allow me to explain....
I remember Young Jeezy saying something along the lines of "'OJ' might just be one of the most controversial songs on my album." When you name your song "OJ" and you aren't referring to the delicious fruit juice or dedicating it to OJ Da Juiceman then yea you've definitely entered into the controversial realm. Is it just me or is The Dream, Mario, Trey Songz, and Ne-Yo all starting to sound a lot like one another? They already have somewhat similar voices, but now the songs are starting to sound alike. Whether it's the production or the guest verse from whatever rapper is hot at the moment it all sounds way too similar. And I think that's exactly why people are gravitating towards artists like Frank Ocean and The Weeknd. Listen...
If you can manage to get pass the fact that Cassie is singing on a track that samples Mobb Deep's classic song "Shook Ones Pt. 2" then you'll probably find that "Radio" isn't too bad of a song. Yes, Cassie's singing is borderline annoying and the song probably wouldn't have made it without Fabolous' verse, but overall it's kind of catchy. Listen and download...
The highest profile cut off Fabolous' "Soul Tape", which by the way I think it way better than it gets credit for, was Loso's collaboration with Lil Wayne, "That's Not Love". Actually, make that "alleged" collaboration. Last week Trae Tha Truth, he of the dope "I'm On" posse cut, went on record saying that "That's Not Love" was originally intended for his album. Part of me thinks that Game actually made his "Red Nation" video so it would be banned by MTV, subsequently giving him far more press than he would have gotten otherwise. Either way, he's still not much closer to regaining his status as an elite rapper, and I don't think new single "Bottles & Rockin' J's" will help much. See more...
