The first few weeks of January are actually a great time to see who's really at the top of the game. Labels never put out big albums in the beginning of the year, they spend all their money on the holiday rush, so there are on new albums getting a debut boost on on the charts, leaving only the heavy hitters to slug it out for the top ten album slots. And who are those heavy hitters? See more...
This week marked the mostly highly anticipated sales report since the world was hyperventilating over Drizzy's numbers, and the results are pretty much what we expected. Kanye debuted strongly, selling almost exactly 500,000 copies of his new school classic "Dark Twisted Fantasy". I'm sure it's not what Yeezy hoped for, but frankly, given the Taylor Swift backlash/leaks/etc. it's about as good as it was going to get. See more...
If Kanye's original release date for "Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" had stuck, he would have gone head to head with Swift to see who was truly...the greatest of all time! (Sorry, I couldn't help myself). Still, there's a very good chance that Taylor will still have the number one album in a couple weeks when Yeezy drops. Can he knock her out of the top spot? Oh, it's on like Donkey Kong. See more...
No, no, you're mistaken. It wasn't me who wrote, "You know what doesn't sell well? Albums that are essentially 'Rebirth' leftovers promoted by an artist whose in jail," in last week's sales report. You're thinking of someone else. Ok, fine. Good lord was I wrong. This week Weezy's "I Am Not a Human Being" came out of nowhere to take the number one spot. See more...
I'd say I hate to say I told you so," but I think we all know that'd be a lie. I love to say "I told you so." When Fantasia's new album "Back to Me" came out of nowhere last week to knock Eminem's epically selling "Recovery" down a couple notches I predicted there was no way Fantasia had the strength to stay on top. Sure enough this week she plummeted. See more...
What? I'm sorry...I just mean....what?!? Let me back up. This week Katy Perry knocked Eminem out of his extrodinarilly long-standing position at number one. That's not much of a surprise. As a general rule. if mainstream white America loves you, like they love Perry, you can't be stopped. No, what surprised the hell out of me is who beat out "Recovery" for the number two spot...Fantasia's "Back to Me". See more...
I consider myself a pretty creative writer, but I'm running out of ways to say, "Eminen's 'Recover' is the number one album in the country." While "Recovery" sales continue to fall, he sold a mere 120,000 copies this week (or as many as Rick Ross sold his debut week), the number 2 album, from some band/person named Kem, is 60,000 copies off. First off, my apologies for missing last week's sales report. I'd apologize more, but nothing has changed. Last week Eminem incredibly got knocked out of his number one spot - by the indie band Arcade Fire, not Rick Ross (not even close) - but it was a short lived time at number one for Arcade. One week later, "Recovery" is right back on top in historical fashion. See more...
I f-ing told you. When some other sites that will go unnamed (cough Rap Radar cough) reporting that sales of Rick Ross' new album "Teflon Don" would be strong enough to knock Eminem's "Recovery" I said, and I quote, "Eminem poops Rick Ross' album sales." Ok, so it wasn't one of my more eloquent moments. See more...
Each week we will send you a recap of our top stories, downloads, and videos.
