I think we can all agree that, like most rap beefs, the beef between Azealia Banks and Angel Haze was pretty petty. But the real question is did we at least get a decent diss song out of the spat between the two rappers? See more...

There really is a lot going on in this Azealia Banks "1991" video. I'm getting a little Madonna, a pinch of Foxy Brown, a milligram of Missy Elliott, and honestly there's somewhat of an Aaliyah vibe in the video as well. With that being said I'm not entirely mad at the video. Banks already (confusingly) stated that she doesn't want to be considered a rapper and for a non-Hip-Hop video this works for me. See more...

I was hoping Banks' new "Fantasea" mixtape would help me make up my mind - nope. I'm not a big fan of the more electro/EDM/etc. thing, but fine, that's just a personal preference. I know a lot of people do. I was looking at "Fantasea" more to see if there was some real talent behind Banks, and I'm just not sure. Listen and download...See more...

Keeping up with the hype circuit, especially in the interwebs era, is exhausting. Since this is RefinedHype, let's just put that all aside for a minute and admit that Banks' new cut "Nathan" bangs. I don't know where Banks is headed, I don't even really know if I like her or not. Listen and download...See more...

So word on the street is that M.I.A.'s releasing an entire project featuring nothing but remixes of "Bad Girls." "Bad Girls" was kinda dope and all, but an entire project with nothing but "Bad Girls" remixes? Sounds a bit much. But I will say that this remix featuring M.I.A., Missy Elliott, and Azealia Banks is pretty nice. Listen...See more...

As opposed to her female counterparts, the music video count for Azealia Banks is relatively low. She rocketed to fame thanks in part to her "212" video and there hasn't been too many music videos since. But earlier this week Banks hit us with the visuals for her track titled "Liquorice" and umm the video is quite interesting to say the least. See more...See more...

As if Azealia Banks sing-songy, rappity rap wasn't already confusing enough the New York artist has released a new song which consists of her rapping. What's so odd about that? Well, just days ago Banks turned to her Tumblr site to inform fans that she no longer wishes "to be a rapper." Listen and download...See more...

So contrary to popular belief it turns out that Azealia Banks can kind of rap. For her latest release titled "Jumanji" Banks taps into her inner emcee as she knocks out a couple of impressive verses. After hearing Banks' first few releases I had honestly kind of written her off. Listen and download...See more...

Playing the "who's going to blow up in 2012" game is an interesting but ultimately pointless exercise. There are just too many factors. No matter how dope/interesting/etc. an artist is, there are too many moving parts to guarantee success of failure. But that hasn't stopped legions of folks - many of them, let's be real, who look like this - from proclaiming Azealia Banks to be the next big thing. See more...
