DJ Charlie White’s “A Tribe Called Wu” Mix is F**king Dope (Listen & Download)

Posted by Nathan S. on 04/19/12 | Filed under Downloads, Rap Nerdery, A Tribe Called Quest, Wu-Tang

Not here. Instead, this is just 30 straight minutes of some of the dopest music in hip-hop history. Seriously - it's weirdly easy to forget just how much of an impact Tribe and Wu had on hip-hop until you hear them concentrated into one mix. Listen and download...

A Verse By Verse Retroactive Breakdown of Tribe’s Classic “Scenario” (Video)

When it comes to A Tribe Called Quest's classic "Scenario" everyone and their momma would be launching into a track-by-track breakdown. Well, as they say, it's never too late to over analyze a song that's probably best left around. (Note; No one says that.) Let's get to it.

The Story Behind the Best Guest Verse Ever: Busta Rhymes’ “Scenario” (Video)

The Story Behind the Best Guest Verse Ever: Busta Rhymes’ “Scenario” (Video)

I don't make a statement like this lightly - Busta Rhymes on "Scenario" is my greatest guest verse of all-time pick. Not only is it dope in its own right, two decades later and even Nicki Minaj is sweating it, but I can't remember another verse doing so much to launch a rapper's career. Before "Scenario" Busta was "that guy in Leaders of the New School".

You Really Need to See ATCQ’s “Beats, Rhymes & Life” - Now (Movie Review)

Posted by Brando on 08/01/11 | Filed under Features, Movies, Speak of Freedom, A Tribe Called Quest

Ultimately, Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels Of A Tribe Called Quest effectively does what Rappaport intended for it to be, a visual man crush towards a group he idolized while doing films such as Zebrahead and more. It makes you wax nostalgic over the day Midnight Marauders joined Wu-Tang Clan’s 36 Chambers on the shelves in 1993 and even gives you a glimmer of hope. See more...

Classic Album: A Tribe Called Quest’s “Low End Theory” (Review & Video)

Posted by Matt Juss on 02/01/10 | Filed under Top Stories, Features, Classic Albums, A Tribe Called Quest

It’s happened hundreds of times. A band or group will put out a fantastic debut album, creating a huge amount of anticipation for their next effort, only to disappoint greatly. Following an acclaimed debut album "“People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm", a Tribe Called Quest second effort “The Low End Theory” had the potential makings of a sophomore slump but emerged as one of the best albums of all-time. DJ Chong Wizard “Eclectic Relaxation:Tribute to A Tribe Called Quest” Mixtape (Listen & Download)

Posted by Nathan S. on 01/06/10 | Filed under Top Stories, Downloads, Mixtapes, A Tribe Called Quest, DJ Chong Wizard

I owe my live for hip-hop in no small part to A Tribe Called Quest (I wore out my "Low End Theory" tape twice. Yeah that's right, I said tape), so when I heard that DJ Chong Wizard was putting together a Tribe tribute album I couldn't wait to have the final result in my hands, and I'm happy to say it's everything I was hoping for. Classic Verse: Busta Rhymes on A Tribe Called Quest’s “Scenario” (Video)

Posted by Nathan S. on 12/16/09 | Filed under Features, Busta Rhymes, Classic Verse, A Tribe Called Quest

I'm feeling kind of old school today, so it was only natural that I had to select one of my all-time favorites tracks for this week's Classic Verse, A Tribe Called Quest's "Scenario" featuring Leaders of the New School, unquestionably one of the greatest posse cuts in hip-hop history. While just about every verse on this one is a classic, the way a young, skinny Busta Rhymes absolutely destroys the mic makes his a classic amongst classics. This is the verse that I judge all other Busta verses against. See more...

Throwback Tuesday: A Tribe Called Quest’s “Check the Rhyme”

Posted by Nathan S. on 11/24/09 | Filed under Videos, Throwback Thursday, A Tribe Called Quest, Q-Tip

I know, I know, it's supposed to be Throwback Thursday, but you'll be in a turkey coma this Thursday and it just didn't feel right to deprive you of some old-school goodness so we're moving up the schedule. Point is, you can never go wrong with some old-school A Tribe Called Quest, especially when we're talking about "Check the Rhyme", a dope cut featuring one of the best two man call and response choruses in hip-hop history.
