For those who are a little late to the party (you missed "Heaven's Door" and "Bitches & Drugs"), a few weeks ago the legendary Stankonia Studios, aka the home of Outkast, opened it's doors to just about every dope rapper alive, plied everyone with massive amounts of booze granola bars and apples and recorded the madness. The result is, predictably, some of the more purely dope music you're going to hear. Case in point, the newly released "The Journey".
Take a supremely mellowed out beat by Royal Flush & Marc Real, add in vocals from the fast rising Young Scolla, the always fresh Rapper Big Pooh and the increasingly lyrical Freeway and you've got some good music. No flash, no gimmicks, just good music. And isn't that why we're here? (Ok, besides the booty, isn't that why we're here?)
The full "Stankonia Sessions: A3C Edition" album, hosted by SMKA & Royal Flush and presented by Grooveshark, drops on Wednesday, November 16. Stay tuned......
