I don't know why I always have so much to say about Young Jeezy, but after the release of his new mixtape "Trap or Die 2: By Any Means Necessary" I suddenly find myself with enough material to easily warrant a RefinedTake. Those not interested in the workings of my admittedly unstable mind can just scroll down to the bottom and start downloading.
The RefinedTake:
1) I have to be real, while he has his moments, Jeezy's new material hasn't been as good as his work on "The Recession". And this is coming from a guy who wrote an entire column called "In Defense of Young Jeezy". I'm starting to think he's doing it just to make me look bad. I'm also incredibly narcissistic.
2) I'm pretty sure this isn't what Malcom X had in mind when he coined the term "by any means necessary". Actually, I'm positive. He said, "We declare our right on this earth...to be respected as a human being, to be given the rights of a human being...which we intend to bring into existence by any means necessary." Whereas Jeezy's talking about selling as much blow as necessary to have the means to afford a Maybach. Other than that, same thing.
3) A couple months ago the Snowman announced he was dropping the "Young" and only wants to be called "Jeezy"...and then promptly continues to release music under the name "Young Jeezy". Damn son, make up your mind. Even Prince didn't have this many name changes.
4) Have we figured out the deal with the cover? What's up with the preppy look? Looks more like "Yacht or Die" to me.
5) Last but not least, enjoy the latest video for the project.
Download link and mixtape preview are underneath the tracklist (I hate to do this to you, but right now all the share site links suck harder than Kat Stacks, so your best bet at the moment is actually DatPiff. I'll have better links in asap <<< updated with a slow but working UserShare link).
