Way back in the
summer of 2010 an
Andre 3000 verse leaked, I got on my detective shit, figured out the instrumental matched a
Young Jeezy hook that had also leaked and wrote the following: "I think we can pretty solidly guess that it will appear on Jeezy's upcoming "Thug Motivation 103" album, dropping September 28."
Yep, that means it only took a year and a half to prove I was right.
What I didn't see coming on Jizzle's new release "
I Do" was a verse from
Jay-Z that really amps up the star power. So we can now pretty much piece together the story: "I Do" got finished in early 2010 and was picked to be the big single off "TM 103". The track was so dope, and the features so big, that Jeezy stuck with his plan through thick and thin, somehow preventing the entire thing from leaking until he officially released it just before the December 20 album release date (aka
Def Jam Tax Write Off Day).
For all those who don't care about the behind the scenes maneuvering - which I personally find fascinating - here's all you need to know - this shit cooks. It's got to be the best I've heard from Jeezy in about a year. Well, actually I think I mostly just dig it because it's Jay and 3 Stacks over a dope soul sample beat, but still. I'm down with "I Do".
Anyone disagree?
p.s. - Is this sample the same one from Kanye's "
Slow Jamz"?
p.p.s. - Funk Flex bombs for now. Clean version coming in 5, 4, 3.....Updated with clean version. Enjoy.
