I don't think I need to tell you that
Yelawolf is far from your average emcee. The
Trunk Muzik popper's momentum has been increasingly enormously lately, with guest features alongside Big K.R.I.T. ("
Hometown Hero (Remix)") and Big Boi ("
Your Ain't No DJ"), precisely because his style's so unique. See other rappers, you'd don't have to fit in to get ahead...as long as you're talented.
Still, even for a heavily tattooed skateboarding white rapper from Alabama, Yela's new track "
Looking for Alien Love" is not your usual, to put it mildly. The beat's essentially a combination of music box synths, organs, a high hat riding beat, some techno-dance weirdness and...yeah, its difficult to describe. And as for the lyrics? Yela covers an incredible amount of ground, switching up his flow about 87 times and alternating between dope punchlines - "I treat music like fat people treat jogging shoes" - and lyrics that, frankly, I'm not nearly high enough to understand: "It's like a lot of people pulled up hungry with a blinged out cereal bowl."
I'm not saying drugs were involved in the making of this one, but they weren't
not involved. Either way, props to Yela for dropping something truly, truly original, although it's going to take me a few more listens before I can say anything more intelligent to say about the track. Thoughts from RefinedHype nation? Anyone?
As far as I know this track's not currently attached to any larger project, but I'll be sure to update as soon as something is confirmed.
