I really do find this new
Yasiin Bey "N*ggas In Poorest" to be quite intriguing. At first listen it almost sounded like a parody of Jay-Z and Kanye West's "N*ggas In Paris." Especially with the different, exaggerated voices Yasiin uses on the song. It sounded like he was doing more than just remaking "N*ggas In Paris" it was as if he was making fun of the song while trying to still be conscious. But after listening to the song a few times I came to the realization that Yasiin gets too deep lyrically for this to be a mere parody of a song.
And I think the seriousness of the song really becomes apparent with the Malcom X "I'm a man who believes I died 20 years ago..." quote. While "N*ggas In Poorest" is pretty solid as far as content is concerned I'm not feeling the way the song sounds. I think I would have preferred to hear everything Yasiin's saying on "N*ggas In Poorest" but on an original beat instead of the one from "N*ggas In Paris."
