Video Breakdown: Xzibit Drops Mildly Futuristic, Underwater “Man On The Moon” Video

After somewhat of a musical hiatus Detroit-born rapper Xzibit has returned with his protégé Young De to release the visuals for his latest track titled “Man On The Moon.” Now for this video to be worthy of a good ol’ RefinedHype style breakdown you know there had to be a few things that stood out. And there were. For instance there’s some underwater weightlifting and there’s even one part where Xzibit cleverly uses both “titty” and “city” in one line. So without further ado let’s break it on down.



0:11 – Hmm, this looks an awful lot like the IM King video lookbook from last year. Anyone agree?

0:16 – So I see Earth and what appears to be the surface of the moon yet they’re underwater. Or are we supposed to think they’re in space because of the whole no gravity thing? Seems like someone’s trying to pull a fast one.

0:18 – With all the space themes going on in this video I can’t help but think of Swizz Beatz’ recent purchase of one of the first space tourism tickets and how much I would like for him to leave his adlibs and rap career up there in outer space.

0:36 – Oh wow so it looks like they’re going to be rapping while underwater…or outer space…whichever one they’re going for.

0:40 – I sure hope that’s a waterproof watch you’re wearing sir.

0:43 – I wonder how his hat’s staying on his head…

0:51 – Who wears sunglasses underwater though? And I thought wearing sunglasses in the club was corny. He just took it to another level with that. Kudos?

1:03 – It’s a wrap for that camera.

1:23 – Although there are quite a few laughable parts in this video, overall it’s pretty creative.

1:26 – Autotune underwater…nice.

1:38 – This song kinda seems like it should be Young De featuring Xzibit. Young De is over this song way too much to just be a featured artist.

1:48 – He’s reading a book by Bill Gates, underwater. Interesting…

1:49 – I kinda miss “Pimp my Ride.”

1:55 – Weightlifting underwater, that’s definitely something to add to the ol’ water aerobics routine.
