XV Unveils the “Theme to Vizzy Zone” (Listen & Download)

Last week we finally got broken off with the highly anticipated mixtape "Vizzy Zone" from recent Warner Bros. signee XV, and now that we've had some time to digest its dopeness, I thought I'd bring out the mixtape's standout track "Theme to the Vizzy Zone" for the seven people in the world how slept on it the first time around.

'Theme' became one of my favorite records from the project for two primary reasons, the beats and the rhymes. (Actually, I guess those are really the only two primary reasons to live any record.) On the beat side frequent production partner Seven might have flipped stranger samples than Gloria Gaynor’s classic disco hit "I Will Survive" into hip-hop bangers, but I doubt it. If Malik-16 every does a '70s freestyle mixtape "I Will Survive" would have to be at the top of the list of unexpected beats.

Second, XV, to no one's surprise, killed this lyrically. I mean, how many other emcees would drop a line like “Cue the strings, getting my Eleanor Rigby on / I left and came back right for those who did me wrong…man I’m out of here / standing out like a fu**king zebra in a crowd of deer.” That was a rhetorical question. Very few.
