
Given the sheer quantity of music flying across the interwebs every day, and my quality over quantity approach, it's unavoidable that some worthy tracks get left off RefinedHype's pages. But so many people hit me up about this new
XV track, "
Smallville", produced by
J. Cole, that I had to honor the will of the people. Consider it posted.
Fresh off his victory in the
"H.A.M. Freestyle" battle, Vizzy's taking on a darker tone than we're used to hearing from him on "Smallville", although he does manage to work in a sick "Saved by the Bell" reference in the first verse. For his part Cole crafts an eerie beat that grabs The Smashing Pumpkins "
To Forgive" for the sample, and the result is a track that indicates that "The Kid With the Green Backpack" might be a deeper and more cinematic album than we were anticipating.
And for every blog out there reporting that this will be off "Kid With a Green Backpack"...yeah, no it won't. Instead it's off some mysterious project Vizzy's refusing to divulge the details to:
