XV is on his Nintendo, Sega Genesis flow on
"Boss Level" as he raps over this early 90's gaming inspired production. With Hip-Hop I think it's safe to say that you have certain types of production. You've got your gritty East Coast inspired production, your soul-sample driven beats, and every now and then you have this production that sounds like it was pulled from the Super Mario Brothers game. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But fortunately for XV it works for him on "Boss Level."
I know most people hate techno, but I do like the little bit of techno throw in on "Boss Level" by DJ Skrillex. It seems to match XV's high-energy lyricism. Also, I'm pretty sure "Boss Level" samples the voice of that kid in the one YouTube video who freaks out after getting an X-Box for Christmas. And if so then that has got to be a Hip-Hop first.
