Who Did It Better? Raekwon’s “Alphabet Soup” vs. Papoose’s “Alphabet Slaughter” (Listen & Download)

Back to back Raekwon? Hells yeah. As he prepares to release his new mixtape "Brinks Boys 2", the Chef has joined the long ABC-rhyme history with the release of his new track "Alphabet Soup", which goes through every letter of the alphabet in order. If the concept sounds familiar, that's probably because Papoose - back when he was talked about the next greatest rapper and not just the dude who hangs out with fat strippers - dropped his "Alphabet Slaughter" way back in 2004. (And we haven't even touched on Gift of Gab's "Alphabet Aerobics".)

While Papoose tears through his version, Raekwon delivers his in a much slower style (of course, the man's never in a rush), leading to the inevitable question: who did it better? As much as I dig what The Chef is cooking, I honestly have to put my money on Papoose here. The man was hungry for respect when he wrote this, and it shows. Although I do have to give it up to Rae on the ad-libs: "This shit's hard. You think you can do this shit? Try." Gotta love the man's honesty.
