Wale vs. Lupe: Whose “Say Something Freestyle” is Better? (Listen & Download)

Every so often a beat comes along that ever rapper alive feels compelled to spit a freestyle over (I'm looking at you "D.O.A."), and while these freestyles can quickly cross the line into "if I hear one more of these" territory, they secretly have a huge upside: the allow us to directly compare elite rappers. So if you don't think that I hear Wale's brand new "Say Something Freestyle" this morning and immediately made up an imaginary battle and listened to Lupe Fiasco's version, you don't know me very well.

Besides the fact that their names are actually pretty damn similar, as rappers Lupe and Wale are in the same ballpark. Lupe's more abstract, and Wale's more street, but they both employ an abstract/street flow. In terms of the "Say Something" battle, Lupe's flow is better, but Wale's got the stronger punchlines, and in a freestyle the punchlines really take precedent. So it's close, but I'm giving this one to Wale.
