Wale slows down things a bit, actually make that a lot, on his latest single "Best Night Ever." Wale enlisted the help of fellow rapper
Rick Ross and singer
Kevin Cossom for this smooth, "only for the ladies" track. I'm not quite sure what to think about "Best Night Ever." I feel like all the right elements are there for a good song: Wale puts forth a decent verse, Cossom does his thing on the hook, and you've got a major guest appearance by Rick Ross. But there's something off about the song and after a few listens I have to say it's the production.
I'm not sure who produced "Best Night Ever," but it seems like they were going for an early to mid 90's vibe and the beat unfortunately ended up sounding like it could've been the background music to one of
Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg's "SNL" skits. I really think Wale should stick to that D.C., go-go inspired sound he was rocking to when he first came out. It suits him way better than songs like this.
