Video Wrap: Kanye West “Power”, Eminem “Love the Way You Lie” & More! (Watch)

It's the most epic (epicest?) Video Wrap in RefinedHype history! Along with new flicks from Janelle Monae and Cam'ron, we get Kanye's revolutionary visuals for "Power" and the cinematic treatment of Eminem's "Love the Way You Lie". Yeah, it's kind of like a big deal.

Kanye West - "Power"

Kanye's insisting that this isn't a "video", it's a "moving painting". Ok then....this is a moving painting of a dude who's incredible ego and huge cojones allows him to make some incredibly dope shit. It's so good, in fact, that I'm not going to even make some lame, "Imagine what Kanye's going to do if this doesn't win video of the year" joke. I would never do something like that. (My apologies if this runs super slow - everyone and their grandmothers is trying to watch simultaneously.)

Eminem ft. Rihanna - "Love the Way You Lie"

What, you thought you were going to get love scenes with Rihanna and Em? Nope. How do you feel about crazy white trash-ish couple engaging in some good old-fashioned domestiv violence and featuring Megan Fox's non-existent acting abilities? You feel great about it? Then you'll fucking love this video.

Fat Joe - Crazy Stories About Fat Joe

I can't front, I love this video series from Fat Joe. Just a week after we learned that Biggie once tried to call out a hit on DJ Clue, Joey's Crack's back to tell some Big Pun tales, including the time he first heard him rhyme and the time Pun almost threw a dude off a bridge during the Puero Rican Day parade.

Shane Eli - Taste of What's to Come

One of the new west coast's most talented young dudes flips some visuals to his "The Push" single. And you can't really tell in the video, but Shane's fucking huge. Like college tight end big. If he and Janelle Monae has a baby it'd be perfectly average sized. (That joke will make more sense in two more videos.)

Cam'ron ft. Vado - "Speakin in Tungs"

Eye candy. That is all. (How did that bald chick sneak in there? If you're gonna do the Amber Rose thing you have to have a body like Amber Rose.)

Janelle Monae - "Cold War"

Off Janelle's sadly slept on "The ArchAndroid" album, more visuals from the irrepressibly creative singer. Whether you specifically like her music or not, if you enjoy creative and original music, you have to applaud the woman. Plus she's like 5 feet tall. I didn't think she was big, but the first time I met her it was a little unsettling how short she is. Anyway...

ArtOfficial - "Voodoo (Live)"

Is there anything better than live instrument hip-hop. Performing a standout cut of their "Payback" album, ArtOfficial tears up the Transit Lounge in their native Miami. Shout out to the dude on his Blackberry in the beginning (lower right corner). Anyway, if you get the chance definitely check these dudes out live.

There are definitely mixed feelings about the Kanye Video. But how can you not give the guy credit this came so far outside the box and is really powerful while watching it.

The Kanye video is kinda disappointing(maybe because i've been to the sistine chapel). It is nice looking, but it has no real story, context, relevance or climax(unless you consider almost being touched with a sword to be exciting). When I saw it yesterday I though it was just a really good amateur video because some artists liked the song. If it went somewhere it may be better, but it is just too short and boring. That being said, i applaud his efforts and hope he makes this into a full length video.

I thought Kanye's video was excellent. It was very different, and not something you would imagine when you listen to the track.

The whole moving painting concept was executed very well in my opinion, and I felt like it had a greek myth type of vibe to it.

Kanye's video is nothing short of brilliance, in my opinion.

@TheBayToLA No relevance, story, or climax? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Damocles

This video is based on the above Greek myth, which is VERY fitting to the song...

And I didn't even remember to comment on Janelle Monae! I don't know what to say about her, to be honest. She work and style are just ten different kinds of amazing.

The entire song? The sword hanging above Kanye is the Sword of Damocles.

"Only at the end of the meal did he look up and notice a sharpened sword hanging directly above his head by a single horse-hair. Immediately, he lost all taste for the fine foods and beautiful companions and asked leave of the tyrant, saying he no longer wanted to be so fortunate."

In Kanye's case the sword would be all of the negative feedback on his actions from paparazzi, SNL, etc. "You got the power to let power go?"
