J Davey U-N-I Roxy Los Angeles
The legendary Roxy theater in Los Angeles has seen more than its fair share of great performers in its storied history, but last Friday night that legacy added a new chapter when up-and comers U-N-I and J Davey put on a power packed show to a full house of adoring fans - and of course yours truly was in attendance.

Side note: Being the opening, opening act is often a thankless job, so props to Nola Darling, who put on a hell of a show even though people were mostly still getting drinks and figuring out where to put their jackets. Props.

You'd be hard pressed to find a crew with more momentum than U-N-I right now, and a big part of that fast rising success is thanks to group members Thurzday and YO's extraordinarily energetic live show. Don't believe me? Just check out the duo's live rendition of their hit single "Land of the Kings".

As unbelievable as it may seem, things only got crazier as U-N-I separately brought on Miguel, Kendrick Lamar and their pet tiger Sebastin for assistance, and cut off Thurzday's mohawk onstage (not necessarily int that order).

Capping off the evening were the always musically adventurous J Davey, who kicked off their set by proving just how genre breaking they can be with a cover of Nirvana's uber-classic "Smells Like Teen Spirit".

Remarkably things only got better from there as lead singer Briana Cartwright (who performs under the name Jack Davey) and producer Brook D'Leau brought the audience's excitement to a boil with tracks ranging from their new single "Outta the Window" to the seductive "Get Together" and much, much more. In the end the crowd spilled out into the Sunset Strip night sweaty, satiated and undoubtedly a little more deaf than when they walked in. What more could you ask for?
