This Week in Hype: The Mega Album Review Episode

Posted by Nathan S. on 04/25/14 | Filed under Downloads, This Week in Hype, Podcasts

Oh shit, it's a new "This Week in Hype" podcast. Yeah, it's kind of a big deal. You might want to put your entire life on hold and just devote the next hour to listening in rapt silence. Or you could always just listen while you flip through Tindr. Either way.

This week, I return from my near fatal mild illness to review pretty much every album that dropped over the last two weeks, bring on true RefinedHype Nation member Tino to talk about making a living on the indie grind and much more.

Discussed This Week

* My apologies for not dropping a podcast last week. I tried to record it while sick and it was incoherent gibberish. So....lost tapes status.
* I do a mega album review run down. Starting with Future's "Honest", which it looks like is going to flop, moving onto Iggy Azalea's "New Classic", and then a truly independent Asher Roth's "RetroHash", rising star Dizzy Wright's "State of Mind", King Mez' semi-comeback "Long Live the King", Pharoahe Monch's excellent "PTSD" and finally Locksmith's "A Thousand Cuts"
* Related note: Is the hook on this Asher Roth song a fart reference? What else could he possibly be talking about?
* Related-related note: I sing horribly twice.
* I bring on Tino, the man responsible for the uber-dope "This Week in Hype" podcast to talk about when he quit his day job at Sam's Club to focus on music, how he's managed to make a living as an indie artist, and much more.
* Tino's a good human being. You should follow him here, check out more of his music here. Support RefinedHype Nation.
* This week's closing song, Tino's "No Zzzz".
