“Once, we went out of town to Orlando for a Snoop concert in a ballroom. The concert started late like, 2 in the morning, and people were rushing the door and trying to get in,” says Simone, “Because Suge’s henchmen they didn’t want to open the door at that moment, they’d open the door, hit people in the mouth, and then shut the door and wait ten minutes, open it again and hit someone else in the mouth because they kept pushing on the door. But those boys in Orlando could get pretty ugly with you. You never knew when somebody was just gonna pull out a gun and shoot the door open and come in and kill everybody. We were always in that situation where you never knew what could be next.”
We've all heard stories about how crazy Suge Knight's reign at
Death Row Records was in the '90s, but you don't know the half...until now.
Simone Green, who worked as Death Row's official photographer during the label's peak, had a front row seat for all the action and she's now chronicled her time there in her new book "
Time Served on Death Row".
And now the good news. You're on RefinedHype so I already know you're literate, and we're going to hook up one lucky winner with a free copy of the book. All you have to do is hit up the
comments below with your
favorite Death Row moment, song, video etc.. I'll pick the winner on this Friday, January 13.
Good luck, and those interested can always grab their copy right now at the link below.
