I swear, half the time my own over-inflated expectations stops me from enjoying music like it should. Since
The-Dream dropped the best r&b album of the last five years with "Love vs. Money" I've come to expect every track he releases to be a classic, so when a really good, but not instantly great, track like the new single "
Turnt Out" drops, I end up feeling let down.
Listen, I like a good falsetto as much as the next man, but throughout all of "Turnt Out" Dream's voice is higher than Lil Wayne in Amsterdam, and it stops the track from every really connecting. Compare it to the just as slow but much hotter "
Put It Down". I even thought his last single "
Sex Intelligent" was much better. See what I mean?
You know what? I need to relax and just enjoy some new Dream. Hopefully I'll have managed to calm down enough so I'm not heartbroken when "Love King" drops later this summer.
(Minimal tags. What do you expect? It's a leak. I'll update with the clean version asap.)
