The lord giveth and the lord taketh away. On the day that Lil Wayne heads to jail for an eight month bid we get hit with a new track from the still King of the South
T.I., who was only just released from prison himself and is currently serving out the rest of his sentence at a halfway house. (God I can't wait for the day when I don't have to consult a lawyer to write about hip-hop music). More importantly, that sound you currently hear bumping through your speakers is "
I'm Back", the triumphant,
The Trackslayerz produced new single from Clifford's currently untitled, unscheduled new album.
On a larger level, I'm not sure what to make of this one. First, on a musical level it's a banger. If you're complaining you're really just trying to find something negative to say. Second, considering he went into jail doing a MTV show about pulling kids off the streets I wasn't sure what his post-prison music would sound like (would he go more conscious?) but the man's just as hard as ever, although slightly less willing to talk about shooting folks. Ultimately this is too small of a sample to draw any conclusions. We'll have to wait for some more music to drop, which I'm sure it will very soon. In the meantime, have at it.
