Congratulations T-Pain. If your goal was to release the biggest cock tease video in hip-hop history you've succeeded with "Take Your Shirt Off", a video which, you guessed it, features not a single girl with her shirt off, though there is one shirtless fat dude who jumps around a lot. So we've got that going for us.
The Refined Hype:
1) For the record, while it would have been a big deal when I was thirteen, seeing girls take their shirts off is not the point here...ok, well not entirely. No, this is a matter of principle! How can you name your song "Take Your Shirt Off" and literally not have one girl who takes her shirt off. Not one!!! What is the video for "Money to Blow" had no money in it? What if "Umbrella" had nary an umbrella? What if "Gin and Juice" featured neither gin nor juice. This video's a disgrace T-Pain. You should be ashamed of yourself.
2) If you're not going to give us a single shot of a girl with her shirt off fine, but don't give me 72 shots of chicks taking their shirts off...only to have another shirt on underneath! Especially at the end of the video at the poker table, what's up with that? It's one thing not to give the people what they want, but to put it in front of them and then yank it away at the last moment? That's criminal.
3) One more and I'm done. Why don't we get a shot of a girl with her shirt off? Seriously? I'm not talking topless, just in a bra or something. Lord knows literally thousands of hip-hop videos have featured far more scandalous images. Dre can open up "The Next Episode" with a bunch of strippers in thongs and T-Pain gets shy about pants and a bra?
4) I will give the man this; he's pretty damn funny. That intro's got some legitimate comic potential, and as long as we're hear congrats to T-Pain for his Grammy nomination, for "On a Boat" of all things. There's not a snowball's chance in hell he's going to win, but still, that's pretty hilarious.
5) Extra props for the George Clinton cameo (who made all this possible) and the Petey Pablo cameo, who was obviously the inspiration for this video. All praise due.
