I'll go ahead and make all the pessimists nervous right off the bat. On STS's new single "Hello Sunshine" the Philly up-and-comer delivers two verses of spoken word rhymes while Yelawolf busts out his singing skills for the first time on records, and the duo directs all their poetic singing towards a particularly fine stripper. I know, I know, half of you already hate it on the description alone. But here's the thing....
...it's actually pretty damn good. There's really no difference between spoken word and rap other than the lines don't rhyme in the same predictable pattern and, more importantly, the artist formerly known as Sugar Tongue Slim breaks out some nice lines. On the other end of the equation Yela can actually sing, at least in that quiet, almost whisper kind of way.
Between this and the also dope-in-a-meta-rap-kind-of-way "Cliche" I'm legitimately stoked to check out STS' upcoming album The Illustrious when it drops....whenever it drops. Let's see if RefinedHype Nation agrees.
