Streets Buchanon only truly came onto my radar recently, but from what I've heard of his recent "Frequent Flyer Miles" mixtape, I'm impressed. If you're just getting to know Buchanon as well, or even if you're a long time fan, I highly recommend you check the visuals to his new single "Black x White x Grey", a flick that manages to be infinitely more interesting than its title suggests.
The Refined Take:
1) I have to say, this video definitely exceeded my expectations. I went in thinking it'd be super literal, but they did a great job of not hammering you over the head on every line. Rappers take note: you don't need a huge budget to make an interesting video.
2) Am I completely off, or is that will.i.am giving the black pride salute? Because nothing says black pride like the man who wrote "My Humps" for Fergie.
3) "All the Gs shocked when they see my white watch." That's one of those oh shit lines, as in the first time I heard it I thought, "oh shit!"
4) Did we just witness the first "Grey's Anatomy" reference in hip-hop history? If anyone can come up with a previous example, I'm all ears.
5) If you're digging what you're hearing, and you really should be, download "Frequent Flyer Miles" here.
