Slum Village & Colin Munroe Move “Faster” on New Single (Listen/Download)Posted by Richard on 06/03/10 | Filed under Downloads, Colin Munroe, Slum Village |

Brace yourselves, Slum Village fans – Elzhi, T3 and Illa J's latest single may come as a little bit of a surprise. "Faster" finds the Motown trio diverging from the smooth-but-gritty sound they pioneered in partnership with the late J. Dilla to try on something a little radio-friendlier and (slightly) more uptempo than usual.
Backed by RJ Young's glossy, chilly synths, the group showcase their sweet-talking skills, trying to persuade a special girl into shifting their relationship into high gear: “What you're wishin' I can do, it's my mission I plan to, in addition I'll stand through the good , the bad weather, the rain the shine, you remain as mine...” On the guest tip, Booth-approved singer songwriter shows why he's hip-hop's go-to guy for intricately-layered, octave-jumping hook vocals, crafting a chorus as catchy as it is un-singalong-able.
"Faster" has definite potential, but the question remains: is its pop-appealing sound a good look for Slum Village? Listen below and decide for yourself! If you're digging it, keep it locked for the latest on their Villa Manifesto LP when it drops this summer via E1 Music.
Speed up with Slum Village right now and listen to the track below.
