I don't think there was really any debate before, but after
their BET Cypher all of RefinedHype Nation, and Hip-Hop Nation at large, has unanimously agreed that
Slaughterhouse is the best crew in the game. Frankly, it's not even close. Not even a little bit. Right now there's Slaughter, and then there's everyone else.
So it's only appropriate that today we got hit with "
The Illest", a lyrical banger that manages to make an extremely overused Biggie sample somehow sound fresh. We could do the whole "who's the best emcee in Slaughterhouse?"/"Who had the best verse?" thing, and lord knows that debate is going to continue to rage, but honestly, today I just feel like digging some dope hip-hop without all the debate. Hope you enjoy too.
Download and stream are below the video of Slaughterhouse recording "The Illest" in the studio with Yelawolf, which for those confused goes a little something like this:
Yelawolf: Yo, let's record a song for my album right now!
Slaughterhouse: I thought your album was finished?
Yelawolf: Um....it is, but if you do a song fuck it, it's going on the album.
Slaughterhouse: Do you have a beat picked out?
Yelawolf: Um....no. Fuck. I didn't really think this through.
And just like that we watch a potential Slaughterhouse feature on Yela's "Radioactive" fade away into the pages of "What Could Have Been" hip-hop history.
