The musical embodiment of love and sexuality,
Sade is finally back after a ten year hiatus with their new track "
Soldier of Love", a song that's currently also blowing up mainstream radio...and now has some absolutely stunning visuals. Pour a glass of wine, turn the lights down low, and enjoy.
The Refined Take:
1) Before we get into the video, I just really figured this out, so I thought I'd spread some knowledge for those who are similarly mistaken: In this context, Sade is technically the name of the entire band, which has collectively put out five albums, not just the lead singer (although, confusingly, the band is obviously named after the lead singer. Kind of like if "The Rolling Stones" were named "Mick Jagger"). So we should really be saying "Have you heard the new Sade? Their song is dope," not "Have you heard the new Sade? Her song is dope." Glad we got that worked out.
2) The visuals on this are amazing, and I'm not just talking about Sade herself. Now this is what truly artistic vision looks like.
3) As the end of the video shows, this track is also a great find for dancers (actual dancers, not strippers). I'm looking forward to seeing at least a couple dope pieces at live shows soon. Let's get on this people.
4) I know you've probably heard a lot of remixes, but for my money the best is still DJ Critical Hype's featuring Ghostface and Blackthought. If you haven't already, check it out
here.
5) "Soldier of Love" the album is slated to drop on February 19, and while I would have preferred a pre-Valentines Day release so I could play the new music in the bedroom (we're all adults here), I'll take any Sade anytime I can get it.
