Mike Posner's finally got some visuals to back up his cult hit "Drug Dealer Girl", and he's somehow recruited the incredibly lovely Rosa Acosta to play the part of said drug dealing girlfriend. In other words, there's no way you're not watching this video. No...way.
The Refined Take:
1) The day I first heard "Drug Dealer Girl" it immediately became a member of the "Songs That Sound Romantic But Aren't All-Stars", of course joining Dave Matthews Band's "Crash", a song every girl thought was sweet even though it was mostly about crazy bondage sex. Just goes to show, put a soft piano or some violins into a song and you can make any lyrics sound sweet.
2) I've never been on Duke's campus, but I know Mike Posner goes there and it certainly looks like a college campus. Can someone confirm if that's actually Duke? And if it is, I'm surprised the university let them film there given the song's not exactly academically oriented theme. So either they filmed this video on the DL or the president of Duke is also a big Rosa Acosta fan. It could frankly go either way.
3) Speaking of which, you gotta love the completely gratuitous shots of Rosa getting dressed and stretching, and by gratuitous I mean they don't even remotely fit into the plot of the video (especially the stretching). Not that I'm complaining. That woman's so hot she makes Vida Guerra look like fat Oprah.
4) My favorite line from that song? "She can make a bomb ass piece out of a water bottle." Reminds me of Dennis Leary's famous "marijuana doesn't lead to harder drugs, marijuana leads to carpentry" but, and it's true. Every stoner I know is like McGyver when it comes to constructing bongs. Give 'em some gum, a pen and an apple and they're good to go.
5) Lot of live footage in this video which immediately reminded me of the concert footage we posted featuring Posner and XV, which you can watch here.
