Am I too mature to make juvenile jokes about Rihanna and Young Jeezy's new video for their smash single "Hard"? Apparently not. An oddly darkly militaristic video featuring no shortage of scandalous Rihanna outfits, this one's sure to have people talking.
The Refined Take:
1) Rihanna might just be commanding the least fearsome army in military history. I wouldn't trust these troops to invade a Burberry store successfully, let alone another country. Though on the plus side they can definitely march and dance at the same time, so, you know, they got that going for em.
2) Rihanna's famous for her use of futuristic, highly couture fashion, but that black spiked outfit was clearly ripped off a Raider's fan. Paris, Milan, London, Oakland.
3) Goddamn! I'm sure that wasn't live ammunition, but Rihanna just let loose on that machine gun. The next time I'm doin a drive by I know who I want as my gunner - although the police would probably be able to identify her pretty easily. There can't be a lot of other criminals wearing giant white shoulder pads. Anyway...
4) I'm not a military expert or anything, but I'm pretty sure a pink tank is not the way to go when you're fighting in the desert. Although the Mickey Mouse ears helmet is pretty intimidating, so I guess it balances out.
5) Young Jeezy looks like he's straight out of "Mad Max". On the real though, I bet that dude could be a pretty good soldier. After what we witnessed of the rest of their army, he's about the only guy there I wouldn't want to mess with. All in all I have to say it's a pretty damn good video. Anything I want to watch at least a few times, if only for comic effect, it definitely a success. Well done.
Oh, and just in case you're one of three people in the world that haven't downloaded "Hard" yet, you can get it here.
