Not every track needs further explanation (I'm looking at you "We Get High"), but that's definitely not the case with
Rhymefest's new track "
Letter". I'll let the man himself explain: "This song was recorded for the "El Che" album while I was still on
Allido Records with live vocals from John Mayer." If the fans really dig the record, I will release a follow-up statement addressing the Wale situation (how he came about recording
his version of "Letter") in the immediate future."
So, to review...on a purely musical level "Letter" is one of the more interesting tracks I've ever heard from Fest, thanks to some acoustically oriented production from
Animal House and vocals from
John "White Supremacist Cock" Mayer. Second, we're apparently going to get an explanation of how Wale (who's not so coincidentally signed to
Allido) dropped his version of "Letter" on "Attention Deficit". Bring it on Fest. Oh, and the man's rhymes are also on point.
For further festivals of rhyming keep it locked for Rhymefest's upcoming mixtape, "Dangerous: 5-18", set to drop April 1.
